Rosalynne Watt

Bio

Rosalynne (Ros) Watt is a product-led operator and fractional COO who helps early-stage teams take complex technology to market - translating strong engineering into a clear product strategy, credible go-to-market plan, and the operating rhythm needed to execute. She is currently a fractional COO at Radii Devices, a small medtech business (around nine people), where her role spans sales, marketing, strategy, planning, and building partnerships to scale distribution.

Ros has a PhD in engineering (optics and photonics) and began her career as a development scientist at DuPont, bringing new technologies to market in solar and automotive. She then spent several years at Dyson in product management and commercial strategy, sitting between engineering and commercial teams to build business cases, define product-market fit, and shape go-to-market plans for international markets.

After Dyson, Ros moved into startup environments, including a Bristol-based 5G startup in product management, and later Carbon13 (a climate tech venture builder) where she co-founded a new venture and secured early funding before deciding it was not the right long-term fit. She is active in the startup ecosystem as a mentor (including the SetSquared Enterprising Women programme) and as a business advisor (including Innovate UK iCure). She is also beginning her angel investing journey through HerMesa.

Focus of 1-2-1 Session

Ros is best suited to founders and small teams (typically pre-seed to seed, often 2-15 people) building tech-enabled products - especially where the challenge is moving from “great technology” to a product that can be sold, priced, positioned and scaled. She’s a strong fit for teams in medtech/health, deep tech, hardware-enabled products or complex B2B software, but her strength is the translation layer between tech and commercial - so she can work across sectors.

A 1:1 with Ros is a practical working session and typically focuses on:

  • Product-market fit clarity - pressure-testing who the customer really is, what problem is being solved, and what evidence you have (or need) to show demand.
  • Product strategy and roadmap - defining what to build now vs later, and how to translate customer insight into a plan a small team can deliver.
  • Go-to-market planning - shaping your route to market and early commercial approach, including when partnerships are the fastest path to scale.
  • Operating rhythm and governance - lightweight structure that helps teams execute consistently (especially for first-time founders building while wearing every hat).
  • Founder decision support - a calm, commercial sounding board for the messy trade-offs: focus, resourcing, and what will unlock traction fastest.

Ros typically engages through advisory and mentoring support in the short term, and is open to deeper fractional COO-style roles as capacity frees up over the next year.
